If don’t have a sump back up system YOU SHOULD SERIOUSLY CONSIDER INSTALLING ONE. If you already have (or are considering installing) a back-up sump pump here are some important facts you should know about battery operated units. Batteries: · contain highly TOXIC, CORROSIVE SULFURIC ACID! · CAN EXPLODE if fumes come in contact with a flame or sparks. · should only be handled with ACID RESISTANT PROTECTIVE GLOVES. · ARE EXTREMELY TOXIC TO THE ENVIRONMENT and must be disposed of at a HAZARDOUS WASTE FACILITY. · will only operate for LIMITED AMOUNTS OF TIME. · have LIMITED LIFE SPANS AND MAY FAIL TO OPERATE when you need a back-up most. · ARE EXPENSIVE and must be replaced on a regular basis. · SHOULD NEVER BE USED OR STORED INSIDE A HOUSE.
Battery back up units: · INCREASE YOUR ELECTRIC BILL because they are continuously being charged. · wiring and electronics (chargers, PC boards, sensors, etc.) are PRONE TO FAILURE WITHOUT WARNING. · REQUIRE MODIFICATIONS to your primary sump pump to be installed. |

A float is mounted in the sump pit above the primary pump (1). If the water level in your sump pit rises above the primary electric pump the water powered backup float rises and activates a valve (2 ) in the unit sending a powerful stream of water from your city/municipal water supply through the BASEPUMP ejector. Acting like a giant straw, it draws the sump water up from the pit (3) and ejects it outdoors (4). As the water is removed from the pit, the float returns to its lowest level, and the pump stops operating. |
